Lawns Lawn Laying When Garden care Services lays a lawn, we follow a specific, tried and tested method to ensure a rich and healthy result. Before any turf is delivered, we take time removing organic matter from the soil and rotovating it before applying quality screened  topsoil. During this process we will continually check that the surface is as level as possible whilst still assisting maximum drainage. Next, we lay high grade amenity turf then roll it for a smooth carpet-like surface. Lawn Care For your new or existing lawn, we offer services including scarification, spiking and the application of fertilizer and weed killer. Delivered effectively, these combine to produce a healthier lawn which is not only greener and more attractive, but also robust and more drought resistant. These services can be applied at any time or as part of our regular maintenance programmes. Planting Free Planting Scheme Bespoke to your garden and its characteristics, the scheme includes naming and positioning plus itemised pricing. Low maintenance schemes are popular, with styles including Japanese, Formal,  Mediterranean, Rustic, Cottage etc also on offer. We guarantee all of our plants for the first year,  replacing all losses unless caused by water shortage. Tree Surgery Our qualified tree surgeons can maintain and manage all of your trees, regardless of size or type. In addition to pruning and shaping of all tree types (which we normally carry out in the winter months), we undertake tar washing of fruit trees to minimise the impact of disease, prolong life and improve appearance.   If you would like a new tree, we will be pleased to advise on those which will thrive best in your garden. If you need to replace a dead or dying tree, we will fell and dispose of the old one, removing the stump to below ground level. We can supply and plant specimens of all different sizes. Clearances We recycle as much as possible when we tidy and clear gardens. If your garden has been neglected, we will be happy to send a team in for a thorough and rejuvenating work over. In addition to removing garden waste, we will dispose of unwanted sheds (and bases), fences, greenhouses, walls, patios, etc. Once we've done the clearance, we'll be happy to discuss an ongoing maintenance plan with you to keep your garden looking good. Patios, Paths and Driveways All types of hard surfaces can be constructed to your requirements. Block pavier or shingle driveways, York stone effect patios, concrete bases and hard standings; the choice goes on. All of our hard surfaces are constructed on a type 1 MOT sub-base a concrete mortar base and pointed throughout. Variations in base depth depend on what the surface is to be used for and we will ensure your build is more than fit for purpose. Decking Decking and balustrades of all types and shapes can be made to your requirements. We use timber posts set in concrete, 4" x 2" for the frame, joists and bearers, and 6" x 1¼" grooved timbers for the decking. Timber is tanalised for longevity and colour stained to your taste. We cover the ground area with permeable membrane and pea shingle to prevent weed growth, and, for your safety, we always use balustrades where the deck is 2 feet or more above ground. The decking can be used for steps, paths, patios and seating. Fencing We construct maintain and repair all fencing types; panel, close board, picket, ranch style, trelliswork and more, as well as more ornamental styles of panel fencing. We always sink support posts in least 2 feet of concrete and all the timber we use is pre-treated with preservative. For existing fencing we offer a timber preservation and staining service to promote longevity and alternative colouring if required. We repair all types of fencing and provide a disposal service for old ones. Ponds and Water Features Wildlife ponds, pre-fabricated water features,  or  everything in-between are all possible with Garden Care Services. We undertake the construction of ponds and water features of all types and always use high quality butyl liner and reputable brands of pumps so you can enjoy your new installation with peace of mind, knowing that it is made to last. We can sit down with you to come up with a feature that would suit your garden or you can present the drawings of your dream design and we will work with you to make it come true! Mulching and Membranes Rock / Scree Gardens As well as being part of our winter maintenance programme, we can carry out mulching and membrane laying at any time of year. Mulching is the application of material (from horticultural and arboriculture waste, forest bark, pea shingle or stone chippings), onto beds and borders. It suppresses weed growth, keeps moisture in the soil and assists new planting in drought times. Membranes are permeable liners which we lay down on to soil to protect the soil from certain mulching materials, or where very low maintenance of beds and borders is preferred. Membranes can be cut easily to allow planting into the soil below. Let us create a world just for you with a rock and scree garden full of interesting plants on an exciting mountainous landscape! We usually use water-worn Limestone, Kent 'Rag' Stone, Devonshire 'Pink' Stone or other stones as required. We use stone chippings as a scree to give a more natural appearance to the construction as it transitions into the surrounding paths or grassed areas. Planting schemes are provided free of charge with any quote for a rock garden.   Walls and Steps We build ornamental and retaining walls to your specific requirements and can incorporate garden lighting where required. We undertake the construction of walls and steps using a variety of materials ranging from sleepers to decking boards, concrete to brick. All are built upon solid concrete footings for your peace of mind.
